1 About Nepal
The national flag of Nepal is quite unique in that it is the only national flag in the world that is not rectangular or a square.

Nepal is a landlocked country located in south Asia. It is bordered by China to the north and by India to the south, west and east. A small sliver of Indian territory known as the Siliguri Corridor separates Nepal from Bangladesh in the south. The Indian state of Sikkim is the landmass that separates Nepal from the country of Bhutan in the east.

Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world is located on the border between Nepal and China.

Nepal can be physically divided into three distinct regions. The northern part is called the Mountain Region and consists primarily of mountains, namely the Himalayas. The Himalayas is the highest mountain range in the world. Just south of the Himalayas lies the Hill Region of Nepal. The southern part of Nepal is known as the Terai and consists of lowland plains that extend up from India. The lowland plains comprise 17% of Nepal’s total land area.

Nepal has a population of approximately 30 million people. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is Nepal’s largest city and has a population of approximately 1.2 million.
